JOIN US

You don’t have to have any experience to join us on stage!

KPAOS is a community based, self-funded organisation open to all.

If you’re a dancer, have a great voice, attended a stage school, or just want to try out a new hobby, all are welcome to our new members auditions that take place every year.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are held in the evenings or at weekends in the city centre. There is no audition fee, but if successful, a small membership fee will be required. New members will be able to perform as part of the ensemble, and also have the chance to then audition for principle roles.

We're a friendly group and make every effort to ensure that the audition process is as stress-free as possible!

Keep an eye on our social pages to find out when the next auditions will be held.

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOVLED

We’re always on the look out for handy props makers, organised backstage helpers, prompts, front of house staff, photographers, videographers and more who would love the chance to volunteer their time with us.

Getting involved with KPAOS is a great way to enhance your skills, gain valuable experience, meet new people, and most importantly, have fun!

Get in touch if you’d like to take part in one of our shows.

Rehearsals begin around May every year in preparation for our shows, which take place in November. Our members develop a strong bond rehearsing regularly on Mondays and Tuesdays between 7.30pm and 10pm, and sometimes also on Sundays approaching show week.

Being a cast member in a KPAOS show requires quite a bit of commitment but our rehearsal schedule is thorough and well organised so you'll always know when you're needed.

Led by the director, musical director and choreographer, our performers have a lot of fun! And for new members, the society is very friendly and welcoming – it’s in our nature!

Your membership fee goes towards the production of the show, hire of The Little Theatre, and the insurance needed to keep us in show business.

At an extra small cost, you and your family and friends will also be invited to plenty of social events outside of the rehearsal schedule too!

There’s also a lot of hard work that goes into our productions. The creative teams and committee members spend much of their free time researching and securing the rights to shows, scene blocking, teaching harmonies and dance routines, arranging costume and set hires, and much more. It all costs around £30,000 to put on one of our high quality shows and we’re incredibly lucky to be one of the few amateur operatic societies in Leicestershire to be able to do so.
